She wanted to connect this work to the history and symbols of African wax by discovering a pattern that corresponded to her research. She has developed a fascination for both European and African wax fabrics, their large, very colorful and symbolic printed patterns. She discovered a tree motif by the Dutch printer Vlisco nicknamed "Kofi Annan's brain", because it had been published in the 2000s at the time of the former UN secretary-general's last speech; he was given this nickname in homage to the intelligence of the Ghanaian. With "Arborescences" she wanted to interpret her own version of this African reference motif, still in homage to the brain and intelligence, but adding an ode to human and plant nature, to their resemblance and symbiosis
